Urban
Cities and towns offer an ever-changing landscape shaped by architecture, commerce, transportation, and the people who inhabit them. I am drawn to the visual relationships found within these environments, where buildings, streets, signs, and everyday structures create compositions that are often overlooked.
Urban photography presents opportunities to explore geometry, perspective, color, texture, and the interplay of light and shadow. Sometimes it is the larger architectural setting that attracts my attention. At other times, a small detail, an unexpected arrangement of shapes, an interesting sign, or the contrast between neighboring structures becomes the subject.
I enjoy discovering compositions within familiar surroundings and finding visual interest in places that might otherwise receive little attention. But there is also a documentary aspect to my photography. Urban environments are constantly evolving as neighborhoods are revitalized, older buildings are demolished, and new developments take their place. What exists today may be altered or gone tomorrow. A photograph can preserve a moment in the life of a city that might otherwise disappear without notice.
This collection reflects my interest in the built environment, both as a source of photographic expression and as a record of places continually shaped and reshaped by time, development, and the people who inhabit them.
